Plans for DISTRICT 1
Bringing Experience to District 1

Why I am Running
A Record of Service—and a Lifetime of Commitment
I am running for Irvine City Council, District 1 neighborhood because this community has shaped my life and I want to continue giving back with strong leadership. I first moved to Irvine in 1986 and lived throughout District 1 neighborhoods:
-
Northwood
-
Northpark Square
-
Eastwood Village (current home)
My commitment to District 1 is personal. I have watched these neighborhoods grow, raised a family here, and worked to protect what makes Irvine special.
Protecting Open Space
Preserving the Natural Beauty of Northern Irvine
District 1 is home to some of Irvine’s most beautiful open spaces, including the iconic avocado groves of Orchard Hills. These landscapes are not just scenery—they define our quality of life.
My priorities include:
-
Preserving ample open space in northern Irvine
-
Protecting Orchard Hills backdrop and views
-
Ensuring development respects community character
-
Open space is a legacy we pass to the next generation.
Solving Landfill Traffic
Practical Solutions for Neighborhood Safety
Residents near Portola Springs should not bear the burden of landfill traffic.
I will work with Orange County and Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) to:
-
Develop a dedicated access road directly to the landfill
-
Redirect heavy truck traffic away from residential streets
-
Improve safety and quality of life for nearby neighborhoods

This problem is solvable—with experience and collaboration.
My Experience & Vision
District 1 deserves leadership that knows how to get things done.
-
Two-term Mayor of Irvine
-
Two-term City Council member/Mayor Pro Tem
-
Presidential Appointee, Lead Regional Administrator, Pacific Rim, Northwest and Arctic regions at U.S. General Services Administration

This experience allows me to:
-
Navigate complex government processes
-
Secure funding and partnerships
-
Deliver results—not promises
-
Provide the experienced, accountable leadership District 1 deserves

A record of delivering on promises.
A New Community Center
Strengthening Community Connections
District 1 deserves a community center and library that reflects its needs and values.
I will advocate for:
-
A new, modern library and community center
-
Space for seniors, families, youth programs, and civic gatherings
-
A true neighborhood hub that brings residents together
-
Strong communities need places to connect.
A Greener District 1
Environmental Stewardship with Measurable Impact
Irvine has always been a leader in sustainability—and District 1 should continue to lead.
My plan includes:
-
Planting 60,000–70,000 trees throughout the district
-
Preserving and enhancing the Jeffrey Open Space Trail
-
Expanding tree canopy to improve air quality, shade, and walkability. This is about real environmental results, not symbolic gestures.

Results-Driven Leadership
A Neighbor Who Knows District 1.
I’m not new to District 1.
I’ve lived here for over three decades, served Irvine at every level, and delivered results that matter.
Together, we can:
Protect our open spaces
Invest in community amenities
Deliver responsible, common-sense solutions
I would be honored to earn your support.
